The proper way to drain your coolant is to also drain and flush your engine block. In order to do that you need to remove the drain plug on your block. The 2008-2019 Land Cruiser 200 Series, FJ Cruiser and 5th Gen 4Runners all had this drain plug in place and its a pretty great upgrade to the standard 1FZ drain plug.
The stock drain plug is just a 14mm bolt with a small plug at the end. What this drain plug does is not only replace THAT drain plug with a new one but this has the added feature of a drain spout. It threads on with a 14mm open end wrench. The new drain plug is a smaller 10mm plug. But NOW there is a drain spout that you can attach a 1/4" hose onto so that guess what? You can now control the flow of the drained coolant INTO a bucket instead of all over the ground. See...environmentally friendly ;)

So simple and so much eaiser to drain
I've been chasing coolant leaks for a little while and this has come is so handy. I've just cut a tube to desired length and run it to my empty coolant jugs every time I need to drain. So far I've drained the block and the rad 3 times and maybe lost 1/2 a cup of coolant on the ground. This should have been a factory install and to top it off the tube for this is the same size for the rad so if you go slow no mess and save some $$ cause you aren't wasting coolant.
