Is this required for your 1FZ Land Cruiser? No. But if you spend a lot of time sitting at or close to idle on the freeway in traffic, or slowly crawling up a hill, or idling at a parking lot trying to charge the battery after using it a bunch with the truck off while camping then over-driving the alternator could help.
Most of our 1FZs idle around 650rpm or around 900rpm with the A/C cycling. The reason the A/C compressor bumps up the rpms is to increase the speed for the engaged A/C pump but also to get the alternator spinning faster to supply more amperage (and a bump in voltage). Alternator voltage/amperage is rpm dependent. The faster it spins the more volts and amps it produces. Over-driving the pulley on the alternator is like having the engine 15% higher in rpms while still sitting idle. This is handy when better charging is needed.
The potential negative to this is...well, you are ALWAYS over-driving the alternator. This has the potential to accelerated wear on the alternator itself but its impossible to tell just how much given the natural lifecycle of the alternator is already decades long.
Fits all 70, 80, 105 Series Land Cruisers ONLY with the 1FZ engine. No other modification necessary other than replacing the pulley and nut. Suggest replacing 80 Series 1FZ Complete Belt Kit.

• CNC machined steel nut (original nut can't be used due to size of the OEM's nut flange)
