Product Description
What is the 105 Sector Shaft Upgrade? When you are running larger tires and/or do a lot of off-road driving in your 80 Series Land Cruiser, one of the weak links in your steering circuit is the sector shaft. This is the shaft that is geared inside the gear box that directly turns the pitman arm to turn the tires. On a stock 80 Series this is sufficient. On lifted trucks with large tires this sector can and does shear leaving you dead in the water. There is no trail fix for that one unless you happen to carry a spare gear box.
The upgraded sector shaft and pitman arm is from the 105 Series Land Cruisers found everywhere BUT the US. These trucks were outfitted with a BEEFY sector shaft and a pitman arm to match with more splines.
Since our trucks are now minimum 23 years old now, you may find your own gear box in need of being rebuilt. If so this may be the perfect time to not only rebuild it but upgrade it as well. Although there are many shops that can rebuild gear boxes, the go to for the Land Cruiser crowd seems to be REDHEAD STEERING GEARS. Just send them these parts and your old gear box and they can set up fairly quickly. If you are looking to do a simple exchange with a built gearbox ready to go, then maybe TROLLHOLE CRUISERS is the way to go.
