The LANDTANK 80 Series Seat Extensions for Electric Seats, solve one very big problem with the 80 Series Land Cruiser...being too tall. To anyone generally 5'11" tall and shorter the space available as the driver, and the movement the seat gives you, is plenty enough. But it seems once you hit that magic 6'0" and above height and all of a sudden the driver's cockpit seems, well, cramped.
Adding the Seat Extensions not only raises the front of the seat .75", thus reclining it back slightly, but it also give you an additional 2" of rear adjustment. This makes driving the 80, as a tall person, an absolute pleasure.
The chair itself bolts to mounting hump and the motor assembly in front hangs down below the edge of the chair. The reason to place the extension blocks in there is to raise the chair on the rails so that motor is above the edge of the chair and clears the hump.
Raising the whole chair so the feet were on top of the hump and using plates to move it back works fine however the end results were that the chair was even higher in front. This places the chair in too much of a reclined position, which isn’t ideal.
The rear mount remains un-altered. Only the front of the seat is raised by 3/4". That actually provides an increase in head room when the seat is moved back fully because the seat is sliding down a slope and now that it slides 1-7/8" further down that slope it is slightly lower.
The modifications itself can be a little involved but the results are worth the effort.
